Have you seen a pink Eiffel Tower? If this is your first time hearing about it, you’re not alone. Most people come to Paris every year just to see the Eiffel Tower glitter in its iconic golden light and sparkles. But once a year, in a very special night, Eiffel Tower changes its colors to pink.

So when does this happen? On the night of September 30, Eiffel Tower would light up in pink to mark the start of the Breast Cancer Awareness month in October. Since 2014, this has been an annual event for the tower in support of the Pink Ribbon Foundation’s campaign to raise awareness and shed a little more light in the fight against breast cancer.

The tower will light up at exactly 8:00pm and will even sparkle for 5 minutes every hour until midnight. Of course, you can also schedule to climb up the tower at sunset and then come back down to see the lights at night. Or better yet, take the Seine river cruise at night and watch it light up. If you’re on a budget, the best places to see it for free is through the bridges over the Seine such as from this Passerelle Debilly bridge. Other best spots are Pont de l’Alma, Avenue de New York near Flamme de la Liberté, Bir Hakeim bridge and Trocadero place.

Bonus: While waiting for it to light up, you can also have a picnic in Champ de Mars esplanade where there will be a free musical program in celebration of the Breast Cancer Awareness month.
